21C Afterhours: GGS New Music Ensemble

Curated and conducted by Brian Current, this striking program features the world premiere (commissioned by The Glenn Gould School) of Ways of Becoming by Christina Volpini, composed for violin soloist Joelle Crigger and chamber orchestra. Edgard Varèse’s Offrandes (1921) for soprano, ensemble, and six percussionists, performed by Daniele Carreon Herrera, is a groundbreaking work that marked a turning point in 20th century music. The evening culminates in Clara Iannotta’s a stir among the stars, a making way, a work of otherworldly beauty that continues to captivate audiences at the world’s most prestigious contemporary music festivals.
