How Jazz Works

Jazz is a vibrant, exciting and vital art form that represents some of the most creative music-making from the early twentieth century through to the present day. This ten-week series will present a broad overview of the development of jazz styles including New Orleans traditional jazz, swing and big band music, bebop, the modern mainstream, and the avant-garde. Lectures will also cover musical features including melody, harmony, rhythm, form and the art of improvisation. Join us for an engaging exploration of the world of jazz!
