Mysteries, deaths, tombs, gods and scholars in Ancient Egypt
Death on the Nile is perhaps not just the idea of the afterlife passed down from the royal mummies such as Tutankhamun’s, and the tombs of the Valley of the Kings and Queens. This lecture aims to add a different perspective on death and resurrection in ancient Egypt through texts (Harper’s Songs), the discoveries of the Mendes Expedition (modern Tel El-Ruba) and the Canadian Institute in Egypt. Egyptologist Antoine Hirsch is the director of the Canadian Institute in Egypt and an active participant in the Mendes excavation in the Nile Delta.
