We See Toronto: An Inclusive Viewpoint of Our City

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Once again a talented team of photographers with disabilities took to the streets and scenes of Toronto. The MNjcc’s Disability/Visibility Program brought them together, and they reveled in the challenge of making pictures that truly show you their vision of Toronto. The result is an exhibition that shows just how differently we all see the same place on the map of our world. Through the images you see, their voices are added to the rich history of art depicting the history of one the greatest cities in the world. Inclusion comes from understanding and embracing difference. These young and enthusiastic artists are showing people how they see your city, their city, OUR CITY!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Disability/Visibility Photography Project is an arts-based program created for young adults, between the ages of 18-35, who identify with the lived experience of disability. They all have an interest in learning about the art of photography. Together, alongside the mentorship of local, award-winning photographer, Steve Kean, participants developed their individual photography knowledge and skills, which culminated in this gallery show. Over the course of the 8-week program, participants, individually and collaboratively, had the opportunity to explore disability, identity, and community in-person in various locations throughout the city.

This exhibit runs from Feb 3 – 29, 2024.
