Small Abstractions (Gallery Exhibit)

From the Artist

The main source of my art is my imagination which gives me a unique interpretation of the things I see. My unconscious often delivers rather surprising, mysterious or playful images to the canvas. Because there is no literal meaning to my paintings, I hope viewers will respond to the imagery and bring their own ideas and interpretations to the work.

About the Artist

Judi Lederman (B.A., AOCA), a Toronto artist has been painting since she graduated in 1984 from what was then the Ontario College of Art.  At that time she received the Helen Forsythe Fellowship award and then went on to be awarded an Ontario Arts Council Grant.

After having a number of art shows in the ’80s (Bau-Xi Gallery, Justine M. Barnicke Gallery, Hamilton Artist Inc.) Judi became a teacher at Downsview Secondary School in Toronto where she taught Art and maintained her own art practice part-time.

Upon retirement in 2006, Judi returned to full-time painting and exhibited her work in a variety of venues, such as the Chelsea International Fine Art Exhibition in New York City, the Toronto Public Library, Artusiasm Gallery and most recently in the Alton Mill Arts Centre.  Her paintings are being enjoyed in many homes across Canada and the United States.

The work of Judi Lederman is for sale. Support local artists. Bring art into your life.

This exhibit is displayed on the third floor of the MNjcc.
