Medieval Music - Ensemble Obsidienne - Angelic Musicians
There are few traces of written instrumental music from the Middle Ages. People “sang using instruments,” adapted songs, motets, conductus, and played music for dancing.
With almost no instruments surviving the test of time, iconography, musicology, musical practice, as well as similarities with some existing traditions, make it possible for the organ builders and stringed instrument makers to reconstruct these instruments that we thought were lost.
Obsidienne’s “Angelic Musicians” present more than twenty instruments from medieval iconography.
Ensemble Obsidienne: Florence Jacquemart (vocals, flutes and bagpipes,...), Hélène Moreau (vocals, psaltery, percussion,...), Emmanuel Bonnardot (vocals, vielle, rebec, crwth, citole, horn).
