Wagner’s first masterpiece, Der fliegende Hollander (The Flying Dutchman) shares the story of the intense and dangerous attraction between the Dutchman—a man doomed to sail the seas for eternity—and Senta, the woman whose faithful love could redeem him.
In German, with English subtitles. Performed live at the Royal Opera House on February 25, 2015. There will be one 10-minute intermission.

With compassion and insight, Davis details the mysteries that surrounded this charismatic artist of enormous talent. AGO curatorial assistant Magdalyn Asimakis will participate in a Q&A following the screening.
