This four-week course will explore the fascinating cultural exchange between Asia, Africa and Europe beginning in Egypt then spreading to Greece, Rome, and the Byzantium. Students will discover the characteristics of this unique genre including modes, hybrid rhythms, instrumentation, dance, and language.
