The Japan project: Memoirs and improvisations
At 8pm
In collaboration with the Japan Foundation in Toronto.
Between Japanese and North-American cultures, The Japan Project offers a new vision of traditional Japanese music.
Teaming up Yves Léveillé with collaborators Eri Yamamoto (piano) and Ikuo Takeuchi (drums), this new project offers a musical journey at the confluence of Japanese and North-American musical idioms. Trying to express the essence of the Japanese tradition and its folk character, the trio reinterprets a repertoire of traditional Japanese songs from a contemporary jazz angle.
