Theatrical adaptation of Amélie Nothomb's novel "Fear and Trembling", 1999 Grand Prix du Roman from the Académie Française.

Actress and director Layla Metssitane adapts on her own on stage the ninth novel by Amélie Nothomb, which evokes the experience of the author in a Japanese company where she quickly tumbles from translator to toilet attendant.After slowly removing the hijab that covers her, a Muslim woman finds herself in baby-doll, slowly and gently applying makeup on to play a kind of geisha.White face, affected elocution, the actress alternates sitting in front of her dresser –describing the suffering inflicted to Japanese woman through manners– with office scenes where the narrator recounts how her boss humiliated her after being herself humiliated by her superior.
