This beloved and iconic Italian city is the subject of this singular documentary that brings remarkable stories of courage and survival to life while capturing the exotic sights and sounds of one of the world's most colourful and mysterious places. Naples ’44 is adapted from the notebook of Norman Lewis, a British officer who entered Naples during WWII with the American Fifth Army. Writing down all the unbelievable things he saw, Lewis created a vivid record of history from an on-the-ground perspective. This creative imagining of the man in the present day shows him to revisiting Naples and recalling a series of unforgettable tales with stunning archival footage and narration from Benedict Cumberbatch.
