Free Screening: STEP
Going to school and accessing a quality education isn't easy or isn't even an option for some students. Step documents the senior year of a girl's high-school step dance team against the background of inner-city Baltimore. As each one tries to become the first in their families to attend college, the girls strive to make their dancing a success amidst social unrest in their troubled city. A post-screening discussion and a live pitch by Toronto teachers to support their classroom projects will follow. FREE SCREENING in support of MyClassNeeds, a charity that creates innovative learning opportunities and experiences for K-12 students in Canadian publicly-funded schools. Donations will be accepted at the door to support classrooms in need of learning tools and technology. A maximum of two free tickets per person can be obtained online or at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema Box Office.
