Family Day at Hot Docs: DOLORES

Family Day at Hot Docs: Inspire your kids to follow their passions and stand up for others as we screen two films spotlighting outspoken role-moderls and activists: Jane Goodall and Dolores Huerta. *FREE entry for kids under 16. American feminist, labour leader and civil rights icon Dolores Huerta has never been afraid to speak truth to power. She co-founded the National Farmworkers Association, the first farm worker's union in the U.S., but was never quite as well-known as her ally César Chávez. This is even true when it comes to the movement's famous slogan, Sí se puede, which inspired Barack Obama's "yes we can" and is often wrongly attributed to Chavez. As shown in this Hot Docs Festival hit spanning over 50 years of footage, Dolores is never less than bold and compassionate, and remains outspoken and committed well into her 80s.
