Daniels, Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design, Room 103 In the last ten years, two trends have gained popularity in architectural research and practice. The first one puts emphasis on the performative aspects of the building -for instance energy-, while the second trend adopts a minimalist aesthetic, retreating from expressing any trace of specificity. The conception of architectural form as a cultural and political expression has shifted to the margins of architectural discourse.
