The 2017 Canadian Jewish Playwriting Competition

Canadian Jewish Playwriting Competition 2017 Call for Submissions:
The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre in Toronto is accepting submissions to The Canadian Jewish Playwriting Competition.

The submission deadline is Tuesday July 5, 2017. The 2017 winner of the Canadian Jewish Playwriting Competition will be announced in January 2018. Prize includes a 1 day workshop presentation and $1000 to the winning playwright. Thank you to the Asper Foundation for support of this program.


On July 15 and 16, we welcome you to join us for the suspense and drama of the world’s premiere tennis tournament on our giant screen. Enjoy every nail-biting rally, booming ace and hotly contested game point as the best tennis players duke it out for the most prestigious title of the season.

All of the hallowed Wimbledon traditions will be observed—The Royal Box, strawberries and cream, and tea sandwiches. Tennis whites not required!

Harmony Yoga - Free Class

Join us for Harmony Yoga – hatha yoga with classical music at the Royal Conservatory of Music! Yoga instructor and pianist, Mark-Anthony Del Brocco, will guide you through a session set to live or recorded classical music that focuses on breath awareness and gentle asanas (poses).

Footwear Design Workshop

Release your inner shoe designer and join Jennifer Allison of Toronto’s Art and Sole Academy for this exciting workshop.  Jennifer will introduce you to a variety of creative exercises to help communicate your shoe design concepts on paper.  You’ll learn tips and tricks for sketching different styles and silhouettes, all while keeping the fundamental proportions and footwear anatomy in mind.  Let your imagination run wild and experiment with different media such as prismacolor markers, pencil crayons and ink.

PA Day Fun at the BSM

Keeping the kids busy on a PA Day can sometimes be a challenge.  Why not bring them all down to the shoebox for some drop-in fun! Each child will receive an activity bag with a special craft, an iSpy game for each of the galleries and a colourful temporary tattoo.  While here be sure to check out the hands-on demo in our All About Shoes gallery from 1-3pm.

4th Annual Wide Open House

Come to the 4th Annual Wide Open House at The Royal Conservatory of Music (273 Bloor Street West) on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Fun for the entire family (10 am – 4 pm): Smart StartTM class for babies and toddlers; Kids Zone; instrument petting zoo; courtyard party. Special programming for adults (2:30 – 6pm): Music Appreciation; open jam sessions; instrument demonstrations and classes. Koerner Hall concerts throughout the day for all ages!
