On Satuday, September 30th at 4:30pm, the Estonian Central Council in Canada, UpNorth.eu, University of Toronto Finnish Studies Program, House of Anansi Press, and ESC/VEMU present a Black Ribbon Day lecture at the University of Toronto Innis Town Hall (2 Sussex Ave, Toronto). The guest speaker is the international bestselling author, Sofi Oksanen, who will speak about the politicization and falsification of history.

On Saturday, September 23rd at 3pm, the Rector of the Estonian Academy of Arts, Professor Mart Kalm will be giving the Dr. Vello Soots Memorial Lecture on the topic: Constructed Estonia. Houses as the Shapers of Identity. The lecture will be followed by a reception to celebrate Tartu College'is 47th anniversary.

On Friday, September 22nd at 11am, a symposium will be held at Tartu College dedicated to the opening of the exhibit Building a Community: Estonian Architects in Post-War Toronto. Architectural historians and publicists from both Canada and Estonia will be speaking. VEMU has been working in collaboration with the Museum of Estonian Architecture in Tallinn since 2015 to prepare an exhibit about architects in Toronto with Estonian backgrounds. The exhibit will celebrate both Canada's 150th and Estonia's 100th birthdays.
On Sunday, October 1st, 2017, EERO, ESC/VEMU and EFBA (Estonian Fashion Brands Association) will be hosting a charity fundraising event at Tartu College: Northern Spirit: Estonian Fashion & Design Experience. 10 fashion brands and designers from Estonia will be presenting their creations in two fashion shows beginning at 2pm and 7pm (doors open at 1pm and 6pm). A pop-up store will be open, where preorders for fashion designers' work and online orders can be made. The products will be sent to buyers at a later date.
