Jarvis Church & Ivana Santilli

Jarvis Church and his band, The Soul Station, bring soulful classics, Philosopher Kings hits, and the best of Church’s solo originals to Koerner Hall. Ivana Santilli rode in a Funkmobile with nineties R&B group Bass is Base, and “occupies a space between Esthero, Goapele, and Corinne Bailey Rae but is still distinctly her Toronto-born self.” (NOW)

Idan Raichel & Vieux Farka Touré: The Touré-Raichel Collective

Idan Raichel and Vieux Farka Touré (son of Ali Farka Touré) are two virtuosic artists from vastly different musical traditions. “The deeply affecting, at times hypnotic [music] rises from simmering grooves enriched by Mr. Touré’s stinging solos on acoustic and electric guitars and Mr. Raichel’s cascading piano. It’s not so much a cross-cultural exercise as an exploration of common ground.” (The Wall Street Journal)

Presented in association with Batuki Music and Small World Music.

Richard Goode

“It is virtually impossible to walk away from one of Mr. Goode’s recitals without the sense of having gained some new insight, subtly or otherwise, into the works he played or about pianism itself.” (The New York Times) Denk will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy, and Schumann.

Presented in association with Music TORONTO.

Diego El Cigala

Three-time Grammy Award winner Diego El Cigala returns to Koerner Hall with an evening of Argentine tangos from his latest CD, Romance de La Luna Tucumana, plus favorites from his CD with Bebo Valdés.

Jeremy Denk

“Mr. Denk, clearly, is a pianist you want to hear no matter what he performs, in whatever combination – both for his penetrating intellectual engagement with the music and for the generosity of his playing.” (The New York Times) He will perform works by Janáček, Schubert, Mozart, and Schumann.
